"The
Beak has been using Avey Brooders for ten years, beginning with the
Starter Brooder and then the Chick Chalet II.
After ten years the Starter Brooder heating element went out, after
eight years we needed a new fan in the Chalet II.
We incubate our babies and feed from day one so our brooders are
going nonstop for months at a time. Does anything last this long today??
The Avey Brooders are excellent in every respect, temperature
control and maintaining perfect temperature, accessibility, and ease of
cleaning.
The
newer feature of digital temperature and locking code to prohibit
accidental temperature change is a MUST.

Great
brooder... it saved our lives!
Purchased the model without the air filter and wished I'd gotten the
filter, tiny feathers and fluff can clog up the fan. Ended up

This
was my first Avey brooder and it was a life saver. I needed it in a
hurry and they helped me get it super fast!
My favorite features is the digital controls and how fast the
brooder reaches and maintains the precise temperature. I also like
the large door and viewing area. My small parrots need precise
humidity control, and their humidity module is excellent.
The only thing I would have liked is an interior light, but it
wasn't a big deal. I kept a small flashlight near by. The interior
filter is a little hard to remove for cleaning especially if you
have arthritis, but again not a big deal.
Overall I am very happy with my Avey brooder and highly recommend. I
will buy another one in the future.

"I
bought the Chick Chalet II! I love it! It keeps the heat
exceptionally well and it is easy to clean. It has plenty of room
for more than just a clutch or 2 of babies. I love the Temp locking,
there are no accidents. The only thing I really dislike is the
closures. On the doors. In the photo is shows locking closures, but
mine came with plastic turning things. So the doors are not
lockable. It was one of the features that my friend has that mine
did not come with. But, if that is the worst thing about this
Brooder, I am more than happy. If those locking knobs are available
to purchase, let me know!!! Lisa O

Note: We received gripes about the keyed locks too. We had quality
control problems with our supplier and corrosion problems with the
locks. The new all plastic latches solve all of that. |

I
have actually owned another brand of brooder prior to the Avey, and
I must say that Avey Brooders are far more superior in quality and
ease of use! They are well built, easy to clean and I have found
that my birds do wonderful in them. I loved my first one so much, I
bought a second! I have, and will continue to, highly recommend Avey
Brooders to all of my customers!

The regular size features a hinged door
quarter turn latch. The large size (A
whopping 32" wide - Is there a bigger brooder than this one? We don't think
anyone else has one this large!) has 2 hinged doors.
The
hinged door on the Chick Chalet smoothly swings out of the way, and allows you
place units side by side without the door sliding into the brooder next to it. Constructed of ABS and acrylic
plastic. You can easily open and close the door with one hand while removing the baby
parrot with the other. The doors are easily removed for cleaning and disinfecting.
And those distinctive trademark screws allow you to completely disassemble
our brooders for heavy duty - end of season cleaning.
Chick Chalets' are not just for birds. Great for newborn kittens, pups and ferrets that
need a little help staying warm. And the large Chick Chalet will even hold a long tail

The
Chick Chalet is easy to clean and disinfect, and the only brooder I use
from my Splendid Parakeets, all the way up to my rare Coral Billed Pionus
through Cape and Eclectus specie.
Avey answers all your questions and manufacturers a wonderful

| I
rehabilitate
wildlife and use the Chick Chalet primarily for birds. Being able to
adjust the temperature is a plus. Transporting it is easy. The biggest
drawback is the open, water reservoir for humidity. Small, active birds
can easily get caught in it and get wet or drown. Webmaster
Note: The Chick Chalet was designed for naked, helpless, baby parrots. If
you put small active birds in it then put a washcloth in the water tray or
a piece of window screen in it. Or remove the water tray.

The
Chick Chalet was easy to clean. I really loved that it was
lightweight and portable. The digital read-out displaying the
temperature was an added bonus. I loved the fact that the front was
so large that I had easy access and made it easy to view my
lovebirds from across the room. I would recommend this Chick

The
chick chalet is light enough to be transported from place to place
when you are caring for an animal that you have to take home. The
major problem I have had is the quality of the doors. The doors are
incredibly easy to break when putting together. Once they are in
they are very weak and seem to be easy to break when opening and
shutting.

very much like our incubator and it has become the only incubator we use
for newly hatched babies as we trust it for keeping the temperature.

I
cannot say how pleased I am with your product, it has served me very well.
I have it running 24/7 during some seasons. It's functionality is great,
it is light weight and easy to use and easy to clean. The thermostat is
spot-on as I always keep a separate thermometer inside any
incubator/brooder that I use. I also purchased the separate nebulizer unit
for humidity that plugs right into the back of the Chalet for power and
therefore is controlled by the Chalet itself. It provides humidity through
a small hose that runs directly to Chalet. It works perfectly. Most
importantly is the customer service I recently received when a sensor had
to be replaced. I called the phone number provided, described the problem
and Mr. Avey talked me through on how to replace the part. Mr. Avey could
have insisted that I return my Chic Chalet to his company for repairs,
charging me a price. Instead he told me what part I needed, where to order
it !
from, and how to replace it step by step. The problem turned out to be a
tiny circuit thingamagiggy, just as I was told. I was thrilled when the
replacement part did indeed fix the problem, and for a mere fraction of
what I had expected to pay. Great customer service makes a great product
even better. I would not hesitate to recommend Avey's products and in fact
have done so. Thank you so much.

I
have two Chick Chalet brooders and have had them for several years. I've
been very pleased with them. I did have a part wear out on one of them
(after several years) and James Avey has been wonderful to work with in
getting that fixed. I wrote to him explaining what it was doing and he
promptly got back in touch with me. I have a non-profit wildlife rescue
facility in WA state and will plan to purchase additional brooders in the
future.

I
purchased an Avey Incubator Chick Chalet in 2005 for rearing my African
Grey babies. It has provided great, reliable service over the years. Keeps
a steady, accurate temperature. Temperature setting is really easy. It's
nice and roomy with easy access. Highly recommend. My birds sure have
liked it!

| To change the temperature setpoint you must first enter a
passcode (number) Dial in the passcode, (no accidental changes) |
| Then you may change the temp up or down in tenths of a degree
C. then set the temperature you desire on the "adjust temperature" screen and
then the unit heats to that temperature and holds there. Easy and precise temperature
adjustments. |
NOTE: The air filter, adjustable humidity tray are not included on the Chick Chalet Lite. The optional digital
humidity control is not available for the Chick Chalet Lite. If you
require these features choose the Chick Chalet II.
How do you figure out which is the
